Former Barcelona goalkeeper Valdes came back to Camp Nou to take charge of the Juvenil A side in July, five years after he left the club.
The Spaniard came through the La Masia ranks before becoming a legend at the club during a trophy-laden 12-year spell in the senior team, winning three Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles.
He was appointed to manage the development of Barca’s next generation of stars, but his coaching stint ended prematurely.
Different sources have suggested that Valdes and Barca’s director of youth, Kluivert, do not see eye to eye, with friction between the pair reaching breaking point over the past week.
Valdes was not on the sidelines during his team 2-1 win at Gimnastic de Tarragona on Saturday, and his dismissal was announced today.
Barcelona published a statement on their official website, which reads: “FC Barcelona has told Víctor Valdes that he is no longer the coach of Juvenil A and belonging to the club. Artiga Franc, until now, coach of Juvenil B and in the Masia since 2010, becomes the coach of Juvenil A.”
According to some reports, the team’s formation was the latest point of contention between Kluivertand Valdes. The latter had preferred a 4-2-2 formation, but the former preferred 4-3-3.
