Tottenham announce new sponsorship deal with AIA worth £360 million

Tottenham Hotspurs announced this week they had signed another shirt sponsorship deal with AIA worth about £360 million.
The London football club’s contract with the life insurance organization will match the announced £40-million-a-year contract that Chelsea signed with Yokohama tires in 2015.
In the new deal, which will replace the previous agreement with AIA, set to terminate in 2022, the organization’s name will show up on the players’ shirts until 2027.
Manchester United’s seven-year contract with US automobile company Chevrolet remains the biggest of such deal. The deal is believed to worth about £50 million every year.
“This renewed and extended partnership demonstrates the strength and success of our well-established relationship with AIA and underlines the positive impact we have been able to bring to AIA’s brand and business,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy announced in a statement.
AIA Group CEO Ng Keng Hooi said the popularity of the Premier League and Tottenham’s success made it perfect for extending the deal.
Tottenham, who moved into another 62,000-capacity arena early this year, got to the Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool. However, they have been unable to match the financial strength of their Premier League rivals.
The North London club, who did not sign any players between the end of January 2018 and July 2019, broke their transfer record this month when the signed French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.
Tottenham announced in April a world-record net profit of £113 million for 2017/18 they are now in the top 10 in the latest Deloitte Football Money League, just behind their North London rival Arsenal.
