Anthony Joshua responds to a tough question from Nigerian girl

Anthony Joshua received a ‘knockout’ question when he hosted a Q&A session during his short visit to Nigeria. The question came from a little girl, asking why the former heavyweight champion represents Britain and not Nigeria.
“I’d like to ask you; why are you boxing for Britain and not for Nigeria?” asked the little girl. She also wanted to know when he started boxing.
“Why am I fighting for Britain and not for Nigeria?” Joshua responded in amazement.
He was shocked by the question and the fact that it came from a little girl.
The former heavyweight champion took time to explain his relationship with Nigeria.
“My mum and my dad were born in Nigeria.
“Then when they were 25 they went to London.
“I was born, and I started boxing at 18.
“I came back to Nigeria many times when I was younger. And then one day my mum put me in boarding school.”
Joshua’s schooling in Nigeria didn’t go too well, and he was taken back to England while still a teenager.
Although the boxer was born in Watford, he has a tattoo on his shoulder depicting his connection with Africa and Nigeria.
The visit to Nigeria comes amid Joshua preparation for his highly anticipated rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr. later this year, although a date and location for the fight have yet to be confirmed.
